Hello,

Thank you for the taking the time to look at some of my work. I have been working on crafting seamless user experiences for over 12 years now. Currently, I am a Senior Designer at Microsoft. In my most recent job at Intuit, I led design for QuickBooks India, a cloud based accounting software for small businesses and accountants.

Before Intuit, I was a UX design lead at Honeywell, Bangalore, where I helped traditional businesses transform the experience of their digital products. Due to the confidential nature of my work at Honeywell, I cannot share it here. I love solving complex interaction design problems and I am always curious to learn new skills

MY STORY

I grew up in a small town called Kudremukh in the heart of the western ghats in India. This is the place my brain uses as a screensaver. I spent most of my childhood wandering around in jungles or playing cricket. Abandoning a promising cricket career, I reluctantly moved to a big city (Bangalore) to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from PESIT. Four years and many many compile-time errors later, I started working at Siemens, Bangalore. Here I developed a curiosity in UI design which turned into a professional career path in a year.

I studied interaction design at National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad (NID) for 2 years and got a Master's degree. At NID, I got very interested in multi-modal and tangible interactions. With a friend, I built a Table top multitouch display(NID) and a variety of flash based applications, similar to the first Microsoft Surface.

Since then, my design career has been in two halves ... as a partner in a UX design start-up (Mediashala) for the first half, and the rest as part of large companies who are on a UX transformation journey.

I am married to Shivani, who writes poetry, makes illustrations, designs apparel and generally is a more interesting human than me. We share a common love of sunsets.

I do a little bit of photography. My greatest achievement is close to 10,000 downloads on this photo of the Northern lights on Unsplash. I am a cricket tragic. If there was a montage of all the 31258 balls that Rahul Dravid played, I would watch it. I have a deep curiosity in the fundamental sciences. I listen to a ton of science-y podcasts. Radiolab, The infinite monkey cage, are my favorites. So you might find me reading about CRISPR or the LIGO experiment. I also read a lot of science fiction - Douglas Adams and Ted Chiang are my favorite authors.
